Our 6-step sod installation process

1. Soil testing & preparation

Before any sod is laid, we test and amend soil pH and nutrient levels. Tilling to 4–6 inches and adding compost or topsoil is the single most important factor in sod success.

2. Precise grading

We grade the surface to ensure positive drainage away from your home's foundation. A smooth, even grade eliminates low spots that collect water and cause the sod to rot or die.

4. Professional installation

Our crew staggers sod rolls in a brick-like pattern, pressing seams tightly together to eliminate gaps. Edges along driveways, walkways and garden beds are trimmed with precision.

5. Rolling & first watering

Immediately after installation, we roll the entire lawn to eliminate air pockets and ensure firm contact between sod roots and soil. We then apply a thorough first watering — typically 1–2 inches.

6. Aftercare instructions

You get a detailed watering and mowing schedule. New sod requires daily watering for the first two weeks, gradually transitioning to a deep, twice-weekly routine once roots are established.
